Scottish Naming Pattern for Children

Not always the rule, but might give you a hint in researching Scottish descended families:

1st son is named after father's father
2nd son is named after mother's father
3rd son is named after the father
4th son is named after father's elder brother

1st daughter named after the mother's mother
2nd daughter named after father's mother
3rd daughter named after the mother
4th daughter named after mother's elder sister.
